Dubai, UAE – Augustus Media has joined the UAE Gender Balance Council’s Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5) Pledge, reinforcing the company’s commitment to advancing gender balance, supporting women’s participation and creating greater opportunities for leadership and career progression across the workplace.
Augustus Media was announced among eight new national and international organisations joining the initiative, alongside Veolia, Publicis Groupe Middle East, WPP, Epson, Havas, Stephenson Harwood and Advertising Business Group.
Led by the UAE Gender Balance Council, the SDG 5 Pledge is a national initiative designed to accelerate progress towards gender equality, with a particular focus on women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities within private-sector leadership and decision-making. The initiative encourages organisations to translate their commitments into policies and practices that strengthen women’s representation across senior and middle management.
For Augustus Media, joining the pledge reflects the company’s continued focus on building an inclusive organisation as it grows its media brands and operations across the region.
Richard Fitzgerald, Founder and CEO of Augustus Media, said:
“Joining the SDG 5 Pledge is an important commitment for Augustus Media as we continue to grow our business and our team across the region. As a media company, the people and perspectives behind our platforms are fundamental to the communities we represent.
We want to continue building an environment where women have meaningful opportunities to grow, lead and shape the future of our business. Being part of this initiative gives us the opportunity to strengthen that commitment while learning from and contributing to a wider network of organisations working towards the same goal.”
The announcement took place alongside the inaugural SDG 5 Pledge Awards in Dubai, which recognised organisations that have translated commitments to gender balance into measurable policies, practices and initiatives. Standard Chartered UAE, ADNOC, Schneider Electric and Deloitte Middle East were recognised across the four award categories.
Her Excellency Mona Ghanem Al Marri, Vice President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, highlighted that growing private-sector participation in the pledge reflects a broader shift towards treating gender balance as an organisational priority connected to stronger workplaces, business sustainability and the effective use of diverse talent.
By joining the pledge, Augustus Media becomes part of a growing network of organisations working with the UAE Gender Balance Council to exchange knowledge, monitor progress and develop practical approaches that create wider opportunities for women to contribute, progress and take on positions of influence and decision-making.
As Augustus Media continues to expand its portfolio and presence across the Middle East, the pledge represents another step in ensuring that the company’s growth is supported by a workplace where diverse talent can develop, contribute and lead.
